The United Services Organization of Metropolitan Washington on Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall hosted its monthly “Your USO Meal” (YUM), May 21 at the Community Center. A local Fairfax chicken franchise and a Georgetown-based pie company were on hand to feed hungry servicemembers. About 150 chicken sandwiches were served in 15 minutes. Sisters Cat, Erin and Alli Blakely served a variety of pies from their bakery, including cherry, key lime, bourbon-chocolate pecan, blueberry, apple and jumble-berry. "The monthly, YUM event is a great way for the servicemembers to enjoy a free, hot meal monthly courtesy of the USO," said Cheryl Hall, USO Metro Washington's chief operating officer. "We're fortunate these local businesses could be here. It's another example of how the American people show appreciation for our troops."
