Andrews Night at the Nationals

Come out to Nationals Stadium on May 16 at 7:05 p.m. to see The Washington Nationals take on the Pittsburg Pirates. Guests in attendance can look forward to hearing Max Impact, the Air Force’s premiere rock band, perform before the game, seeing Capt. Greg “Stiffy” McWherter, a Navy Blue Angel’s pilot, deliver the game ball, seeing the Air Force Honor Guard deliver The Colors for the National Anthem and witnessing a flyover by Andrews’ own 1st Helicopter Squadron. Free tickets are available at the Grand Staircase Box Office on First Street, SE beginning at 4:30 p.m. Military personnel with a valid military ID (active duty, dependent, reservist or retired) can receive up to two complementary tickets to the game. USO Metro event

A “Celebrate Moms” event sponsored by the USO Metro is slated to be held May 12 from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Community Activity Center. Enjoy a free brunch, sweet treats, door prizes and goodie bags! Register to attend at usometro.org/seasonal and for more details call 702-805-4277.

Taste of the Islands

Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month at an upcoming “Taste of the Islands” event, slated for May 14 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Community Activity Center. Terry Shima, from the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, an Asian American military unit composed of mostly Japanese Americans who fought in Europe during World War II, will be the speaker. Joint Base Andrews and Capital Flyer app

Comprint Military Publications now has an application available to download to smartphones (IPhones and Androids) as well as on tablets that will enable users to access the Capital Flyer instantly! Visit your mobile device’s app store and search for DCMilitary.com to download the application. Also, app users can look forward to seeing a Joint Base Andrews app available within the coming months.

Mother’s Day Buffet

A Mother’s Day Buffet is slated to be held at The Club at Andrews on May 13 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. There are no reservations required. Members are $24.95 and non-members are $29.95. Commissioning Briefing

A Commissioning Briefing is slated to be held on May 16 at 1 p.m. in the Andrews Education Center. This briefing is open to all active-duty Airmen who are interested in becoming officers. A ComputerEase 3 is slated to be held at the Base Library on May 17 from 9 - 11 a.m. This is a new Excel for Beginners course for seniors. For more information or to register, call 301-981-6454.

Asian Pacific Meal

Freedom Hall Dining Facility is slated to host an Asian Pacific Meal on May 17 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. The menu will feature Chinese rice soup, egg rolls, Hawaiian baked fish and more! For more information, call 301-981-6661.

Veteran’s Benefits seminar

A Veteran’s Benefits seminar is slated to be held on May 18 from 7:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. at the Military and Family Support Center. Retiring service members will learn about Survivors Benefit Plan (SBP), Tricare and John Hopkins health care as well as the Veteran’s Administration (VA) on all their VA benefits. Space is limited. Airfest Party
