Westmoreland County Relay For Life Fundraiser
Ephesus Christian Church, 364 Horner Mill Rd, Foneswood, Va. is having a Spaghetti Dinner to raise funds for the Westmoreland County Relay for Life on May 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Donations will be taken at the door and benefit the American Cancer Society.
KGARL Benefit Yard Sale May 19
King George Animal Rescue League will hold a benefit yard sale on Sat., May 19 at Hanover Parish Hall on Rt. 3 next to St. John's Episcopal Church from 8 a.m. - Noon. All proceeds help provide care for local animals in need. Donations for sale may dropped off on Friday night, May 18 from 6 - 8 p.m.
King George High School Theater Presents "Anything Goes"
KGHS proudly presents the musical "Anything Goes", May 16-19 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door (6 and under free).

Dinner Cruise menu served beginning at 5:30 p.m. $7 for Salisbury Steak in a burgundy sauce and creamy mashed potatoes; $10 for Cornish Hen stuffed with pineapple and creamy mashed potatoes; $12 for broiled tilapia with mango salsa and parsley potatoes; &14.50 for rosemary roast beef and parsley potatoes. Each dinner is served with steamed vegetables, roll, assorted, desserts, iced tea coffee, and water.
The KGHS Theater Department's charity this year is the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program. Donations will be accepted to benefit this great program.
Jermon Bushrod Visualize and Rize Golf Tournament
Hit the links and join King George native and New Orleans Saints player Jermon Bushrod for his 2nd Annual Visualize and Rize Charity Golf Tournament at Cameron Hills Golf Links on June 1. Join Bushrod and NFL friends for a day of golf that will include a second afternoon flight to the tournament. All money raised will fund scholarships for students in need in King George and surrounding counties. In addition to Bushrod, scheduled to attend are New Orleans Saints Jahri Evans, Mark Ingram, Johnny Patrick, Zach Strief, Nate Bussey, Roman Harper, the Baltimore Ravens' Torrey Smith and the Washington Redskins' Leigh Torrence. Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed for an event at the PetSmart at Central Park in Fredericksburg June 7 - 10. Last Chance Animal Rescue is sponsoring a mega adoption event and they would like to extend this partnership to the military. Their goal is to place more than 600 dogs in one weekend! They are expecting some 20,000 people to come and will have live radio/media coverage. This will be an outdoor event that will include giveaways, face painting, live radio broadcasts each day, cheerleaders, flash mobs, lots of social media coverage! The group anticipates needing over 100 volunteers for the following duties: dog walkers, dog holders, gate keepers, overnight security, safety patrols, people with laptops to check references, people with cell phones to do vet checks, people to monitor the exits and all around helpers.

Ward Virts Free Concert Series Presents Pianist Thomas Pandolfi
The College of Southern Maryland welcomes pianist Thomas Pandolfi to perform at the Ward Virts Concert Series at 3 p.m., May 13 at the Prince Frederick Campus, Room 119. The performance is the final of six in the concert series, which is held at CSM's Prince Frederick Campus, 115 J.W. Williams Road, Prince Frederick. Admission is free and seating is open but limited. CSM Offers Money Smart Workshop
College of Southern Maryland is offering a free Money Smart Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to noon, May 19, at the Leonardtown Campus, Building C, 22950 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown. A one-day educational workshop with expo and financial seminars at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Seminars by industry experts will address timely topics regarding common-sense answers about taxes, insurance and investments, real estate and mortgage, and personal banking topics including budgeting/saving, managing credit and identity theft. All sessions are presented by professionals in their field with adequate time for questions. The day is free. Partnering organizations with CSM are the Lexington Park Rotary Club and Southern Maryland Association of REALTORSR (SMAR). Charles County to Host 11th Annual Heritage Bike Ride
Don't miss out on a great day of biking through beautiful Western Charles County! Riders age 16 and older are invited to join us on Saturday, May 19, 7:30 a.m. -3 p.m., for a scenic ride beginning at Nanjemoy Community Center. The Center is located at 4375 Port Tobacco Road in Nanjemoy. Resident Fee: $25; Non-Resident: $27; add $5 if registering on the day of the event. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Lunch will be provided.
We'll start the day at the "end of the road" in scenic Nanjemoy, and enjoy a ride with stops at local points of interest. The western section of Charles County will delight you with its sense of serenity and history. Each route for the Heritage Bike Ride begins and ends at the Nanjemoy Community Center. Three recreational routes to choose from: 100K, 50K, or 25K. Charles County believes safety is a top priority; helmets are required for all riders.

Friday Night Summer Concert Series
Join us for the Friday night Summer Concert Series at the La Plata Town Hall. 25th Hour Band kicks off the concert series on Friday, May 25 at 7 p.m.! The weekly concerts take place on the lawn at La Plata Town Hall at 305 Queen Anne Street. Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for sitting. Coolers are allowed, but no alcohol, please. Concessions are available from the Town's food trailer located near the back of the parking lot, an ice cream truck is also stationed there for your enjoyment. A play area for children, the Kids' Zone, allows parents to enjoy the concert while keeping an eye on the little ones.
