LDO/CWO Program Brief
The Naval Test Wing Atlantic Wing Maintenance Office, in concert with the Southern Maryland Mustang Association, is presenting an LDO/CWO Program Brief 1 p.m. May 4 at the Naval Test Pilot School Auditorium. The presenting officer will be Lt. John "Ted" Thompson DAPML PMA260C21 and opening remarks will be from Naval Test Wing Atlantic Maintenance Officer Cmdr. Hugh Clarke. Several LDOs and CWOs will also support the Q&A portion of the brief.
The fifth annual Claude D. Alexander memorial golf tournament is being held at the Cedar Point Golf Course, Naval Air Station Patuxent River on May 18. All proceeds from this tournament benefit the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund http://www.semperfifund.org/, additionally, sponsorship and part of the golf costs are deductible as we are both 501 (c) (3) organizations. We have donated over $50,000 to the Semper Fi Fund from this tournament. If you are interested in participating as a sponsor or player please contact Ted Harwood 240-298-8865.

Spring and Summer Safety Stand Down
The NAS Patuxent River Spring and Summer Safety Stand Down will take place 7:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. May 15-16. Mandatory for all NDW personnel, open to all Pax, Webster Field and Solomons personnel. Attendance will be taken at the end of each session.
6th Annual Leatherneck Race
The 6th Annual Leatherneck 5k Race/Fun Run/Walk will be held 9:30 a.m. May 19. Military, civilian personnel and families are welcome. This year's race starts and finishes on Cedar Point Road in front of the golf course. Registration fee is $25.

Historic Half Marathon
The Marine Corps Historic Half marathon registration is available on the MCM website at www.marinemarathon.com. Cost is $80. Organized by the Marine Corps Marathon, the Historic Half will be held Sunday, May 20 in Fredericksburg, VA. Saban Military Wife Educational Scholarship Program Wives of uniformed service members can attend vocational training programs in the medical field. This year’s grant funds eight $8,500 scholarships and two $10,000 scholarships, which will be awarded for tuition for vocational training in one of the following fields: dental assistant, medical assistant, medical billing and coding specialist, medical insurance technician, patient care assistant/technician, nurse assistant training program, or medical transcription. Great Mills Swimming Pool closes for seasonal maintenance The St. Mary’s County Department of Recreation and Parks will close the Great Mills Swimming Pool for seasonal maintenance May 14 - 25. During this time, the pool’s air supported “bubble” structure will be removed, transforming the pool into an outdoor facility. Other seasonal maintenance and staff training will also occur.
Parade to Honor Veterans
The 2012 National Memorial Day Parade will include a special public tribute to the Iraq War generation. All Iraq veterans and active duty military are encouraged to participate in honor of the sacrifices of their fallen comrades 2 p.m. May 28 on Constitution Avenue in Washington, DC.

Register for the NAVAIR Supervisory Personnel Management Refresher Course All current NAVAIR military and civilian supervisors are required to take refresher training every three years in compliance with the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 2010 (NDAA 2010). To meet this requirement, the Total Force Strategy & Management Dept. has deployed the course, "NAVAIR Supervisory Personnel Management Refresher," at all NAVAIR sites, including Patuxent River. We also developed this course in continued support of Commander's Focus Area #3 (developing a long-range workforce).Patuxent River classes are held at the Career Development Center, building 2189, from 0800-1530 (day 1) and 0800-1200 (day 2).
