Heritage Month volunteers needed

Five volunteers are needed for setup and five volunteers are needed for teardown for the Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month observance event on May 14 from 9 a.m. 3 p.m. in the Community Activity Center. Volunteer by May 4. To volunteer, call 301-981-6789 or 301-981-8541.

Andrews Leadership Series

The next installment of the Andrews Leadership Series is slated to host Andrea Mitchell on May 3 in the Conway Hall Auditorium of the Air National Guard Readiness Center at 3 p.m. All Team Andrews personell are invited to attend this free event. Due to limited parking, a bus shuttle service will be avaliable at the Home Traditions parking lot beginning at 2 p.m. the day of the event.

Heritage Month Dancers needed

The Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month Committee is seeking volunteers who can perform a traditional Asian/Pacific Islander dance for 15 minutes on May 14 during the Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month observance. To volunteer, call 301-981-8541, 301-981-3327 or 301-981-6789.

Sky Diving Trip

A Single Airman Program Sky Diving Trip is slated to be held May 5 in Laurel, Del. from 5:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. The trip costs $30 and includes transportation and one jump Sign up no later than May 1 by calling 301-981-4109.

Lunch and Learn Series

The next installment of the Lunch and Learn Series entitled “Success to Writing for Research, Theory, and Management” is slated to be held May 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Education and Training Building. Lunch will be provided by Webster University. To RSVP, call 301-981-1469.

May Fitness Fun Run

The May Fitness Fun Run will be held May 4 at 7 a.m. outside the West Fitness Center. The run is approximately 3 miles and prizes will be awarded to participants. For more information, call 301-981-7101.

Parent’s Night Out

A Parent’s Night Out is slated to be held May 5 at Child Development Center 1 from 5 - 11 p.m. for ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The cost is $4 per child/per hour. Children must be registered in advance through the Child Care Central Registration Office. Call 301-981-9981 for more information and to register.

School Cleanup Volunteers needed

A “School Cleanup/Landscaping/ Beautification Day" is slated to take place at Corkran United Methodist Church on May 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers are needed to assist with interior/exterior painting, yard work, trimming trees, planting flowers, cleaning playground equipment and moving boxes and supplies around property, etc. Free food and beverages will be provided for the volunteers. The cleanup will be divided into two shifts a 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. shift and a 1 - 5 p.m. shift. E-mail corc.jbaafncr.af.mil to volunteer.

Kaplan University scholarships

The American Freedom Foundation/Kaplan University Scholarship Program has been established to provide support to certain children and spouses of U.S. Service personnel that desire to attend an online undergraduate degree program at Kaplan University. The scholarships will be granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin. This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America. Scholarship Management Services is a designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.
