Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is teaming up with the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. July 21 at 3058 Minnesota Avenue to offer information about positions on base needing to be filled to potential employees from the D.C. area.

Job openings span the entire Naval District of Washington area, including Naval Air Station Patuxent River; Naval Recreation Center Solomons; Naval Support Facility Dahlgreen; Naval Support Facility Indian Head; Washington Navy Yard; Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling; and Naval Support Activity Annapolis.

There are job openings currently available for food service workers; wait staff; sales clerks; water safety instructors and lifeguards; child development center staff; bartenders, and more.

"We are simply trying to get more exposure for these job openings," said Constance Allen, JBAB Morale, Welfare and Recreation human resources supervisor. "D.C. residents need jobs, and we have positions that need filling. We want to give them an opportunity to apply for jobs on base."

Computers, printers and Internet access will be available for job seekers to use to complete an application package online, print it and submit it during the event.

Job seekers are encouraged to prepare a resume and save it on the Internet before the Job Information Session for easy access and editing during the event.

For job seekers unable to access a computer during the event, printed application packages will be available for completion by hand during the event or at home and mailing at a later time.

During the event, free workshops will be held to assist job seekers how to search for and apply for federal jobs; How to prepare a resume for federal job application and tips on how to prepare for a job interview.

The event is supported by the Naval District Washington Non-Appropriated Funds Satellite Office at JBAB; US Office of Personnel Management; D.C. Housing Authority; US Department of Agriculture; Transportation Security Administration; Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority; government contractors and private industrial employers. All will have human resources personnel available at the event. Other employers will have information available at site.
